New Clients

Welcome to Gaslight Square Animal Hospital.
We’re glad you’re here and appreciate the opportunity to care for your pet.

Our practice is built around long-term relationships, thoughtful medicine, and clear communication. We focus on providing practical, individualized care for dogs and cats throughout every stage of life, while taking the time to explain recommendations and work with families to develop plans that make sense for their pets and their circumstances.

We refer to our clients as families, because that’s how we approach care.

Scheduling & Appointments

We see patients by appointment and make an effort to leave limited space on our schedule each day for same-day or urgent concerns. These appointments are first come and fill quickly, so we encourage reaching out as early as possible if your pet needs to be seen.

For routine care, appointment requests can be submitted through our website. Online requests are designed to make routine scheduling simple and are reviewed by our team before confirmation. In most cases, these requests are approved quickly and scheduled into the next appropriate opening.

If you are concerned about urgency, timing, or aren’t sure what type of appointment your pet needs, we encourage calling or texting the hospital so we can help guide next steps.

New Families & Availability

At times of high demand or limited staffing, we may pause accepting new families in order to prioritize care for our existing patients. Existing families—including related household members—are always welcome to contact us for care.

This approach allows us to maintain continuity, access, and quality of care for the families who rely on us year-round.

First-Time Appointments & Prepayment

First-time appointments for new families may require prepayment of the exam fee at the time of scheduling. This helps us reduce missed appointments and better serve the families waiting for care.

Our team will review this with you when scheduling, and we understand that occasional exceptions may apply.

Medical Records & Communication

If your pet has been seen at another veterinary clinic, sending prior medical records ahead of time is very helpful. While records are not required to schedule, having them allows us to provide more informed care during your first visit.

We encourage families to share updates, photos, or records by text or email, especially for non-urgent concerns. This often allows us to respond more efficiently and maintain accurate medical histories.

Messages, photos, and records are reviewed during regular business hours and documented in your pet’s medical record when appropriate.

Urgent Concerns & Emergencies

Gaslight Square Animal Hospital is not a walk-in or 24-hour emergency facility. During regular business hours, we do our best to help guide urgent concerns when possible.

For after-hours emergencies or situations requiring continuous care, our phone system will direct you to a local urgent care or emergency veterinary hospital equipped to provide appropriate support.

Our priority is ensuring pets receive the right level of care, whether that care occurs in our hospital or through a trusted emergency partner.

Building Long-Term Relationships

Many of our families see the same doctors year after year, allowing us to better understand each pet’s history and needs over time. We believe this continuity leads to better communication, more thoughtful decision-making, and care plans that truly fit each family.

We appreciate the role we get to play in your pet’s health and look forward to building that relationship with you.
